Topic #85: Trust

April 5, 2011

Topic #85 (Brought to you by Plinky.com):

How do you recover lost trust? In a person? In an idea?

Bonus: If someone lets you down or betrays you, how do you learn to forgive? And can you possibly learn to trust them again? Why or why not?

Lost trust is something that only time and patience can recover.  Lost trust in a person takes time to get back and that comes from open & honest communication.  It also takes having a big enough heart to ask for and give forgiveness.  Learning how to forgive is a grace to ask for.  It takes a person a great deal of courage to forgive someone who betrays him/her.  Time helps to heal all wounds and it also is necessary to be free.  Holding grudges do not necessarily hurt the person that the grudge is held against…it hurts the person who holds on.  Letting go is a brave and challenging thing.

Lost trust in an idea can be discouraging, but it takes courage to look at the idea from another angle and try it out again.  It also takes a measure of faith to get back up and try again.
